Terms of Service

1. General
Welcome to Helpo! These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of Helpo's platform and services. By registering and using Helpo, you agree to these terms.
Helpo is provided by Helpo AB, organization number 559999-9999, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
2. The Service
Helpo is a marketplace that connects customers who need services with contractors who provide these services. Helpo is only a facilitating platform and is not a party to the agreement between customer and contractor.
2.1 What we do
- Provide a platform to post and find jobs
- Enable communication between customers and contractors
- Handle payments through our escrow system
- Provide review systems and profiles
2.2 What we don't do
- We do not perform the services offered on the platform ourselves
- We do not guarantee the quality of services performed
- We are not responsible for disputes between customers and contractors
- We do not verify all details in profiles and information
3. Accounts and Registration
3.1 Eligibility
To use Helpo, you must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to enter into binding agreements.
3.2 Account Information
- You must provide accurate and complete information
- You are responsible for keeping your account information updated
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account
- You may not share your password with others
- You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
3.3 One account per person
Each person or organization may only have one active account. Multiple accounts may lead to suspension.
4. Usage Rules
When using Helpo, you agree to:
4.1 Permitted use
- Follow all applicable laws and regulations
- Treat other users with respect
- Provide truthful information
- Honor agreements made
- Keep all communication within the platform
4.2 Prohibited use
You may not:
- Use the platform for illegal purposes
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
- Circumvent our payment system or fees
- Scrape, copy, or otherwise misuse platform content
- Use automated systems (bots) without our permission
- Attempt to gain access to other users' accounts
- Transfer viruses, malicious code, or similar
5. Payments and Fees
5.1 For customers
- It's free to create an account and post jobs
- When you accept a contractor, payment is reserved
- Payment is released when both you and the contractor confirm the job is complete
- You pay the price agreed upon with the contractor
5.2 For contractors
- It's free to create an account and browse jobs
- Helpo charges a service fee of 12% of the job amount
- The fee is automatically deducted when payment is released
- Payout occurs within 2-3 business days after completed job
5.3 Escrow system
All payments go through our escrow system. The money is held securely until both customer and contractor confirm the job is completed according to agreement.
6. Agreements Between Users
When a customer accepts a contractor for a job, a binding agreement is formed between them. Helpo is not a party to this agreement.
- The customer commits to paying for services performed
- The contractor commits to delivering according to agreement
- Both parties commit to communicating professionally
- Any disputes should first be attempted to be resolved through dialogue
7. Reviews and Ratings
- Reviews must be honest and based on real experience
- You may not post false or misleading reviews
- You may not pay for positive reviews
- Reviews may not contain offensive language
- We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these rules
8. Dispute Handling and Escrow Distribution
If a dispute arises between customer and contractor, escrow funds are handled as follows:
- Parties are encouraged to first resolve the dispute via Helpo's settlement feature, where you can propose a split of the amount
- If this doesn't work, Helpo's customer service can be contacted for mediation
- A warning is sent to the inactive party after 45 days
- After 60 days of inactivity, escrow funds are automatically distributed based on job status and who stopped responding (see below)
- Helpo's automatic distribution is based on pre-agreed terms and does not constitute arbitration
Automatic distribution after 60 days:
- β’If the worker marked the job as complete and the customer stopped responding: 90% to worker, 10% to customer
- β’If the worker marked the job as complete and the worker stopped responding: 15% to worker, 85% to customer
- β’If the worker marked the job as complete and both stopped responding: 65% to worker, 35% to customer
- β’If the job was NOT marked as complete and the customer stopped responding: 25% to worker, 75% to customer
- β’If the job was NOT marked as complete and the worker stopped responding: 10% to worker, 90% to customer
- β’If the job was NOT marked as complete and both stopped responding: 15% to worker, 85% to customer
Helpo's distribution does not replace your legal rights. You can always contact the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN, fee 150 SEK) or the district court (small claims under 29,600 SEK, fee 900 SEK).
9. Intellectual Property Rights
All content on Helpo, including design, logo, text, and code, is owned by Helpo AB and protected by copyright laws.
Content you publish (profile descriptions, images, reviews) remains your property, but you grant Helpo the right to use this content to operate and market the platform.
10. Limitation of Liability
Helpo provides the platform "as is" and "as available".
- We do not guarantee that the platform is always available or error-free
- We are not responsible for the quality of services performed via the platform
- We are not responsible for disputes between users
- We are not responsible for losses arising from use of the platform
- Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid to us
11. Termination and Suspension
You can terminate your account at any time by contacting us.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently close accounts that:
- Violate these terms of service
- Use the platform for fraudulent purposes
- Repeatedly receive bad reviews
- Do not complete agreed-upon contracts
- Harass other users
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or through a prominent notice on the platform at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
13. Applicable Law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. Any disputes shall first be resolved through negotiation. If an agreement cannot be reached, the dispute shall be settled by a Swedish court.
